i must confess something. i’ve never been partial to hearts. really. maybe i’ve always thought they were too girly, too sweet, too…vulnerable. but, times have changed and i think i might have had a change of heart.
i sat with this little guy in my hand for quite some time trying to figure out just what the future for it looked like. it was like staring out of a window pane searching for that thing that makes a heart beat like the steady thump of wings.
and there it was:
a half hollow heart born 40 years ago, made of brass and set in silver. a tiny pierced window leads you into the space where birds fly and hearts beat. only real love could make something so precious.
look who loves hearts now.
